We are Batambora,
A group of young people who struggle to preserve their land, their identity and the richness of their cultural traits. Our Afro identity has been cultivated and developed fore more than 10 years at the Tambores de Cabildo school with its cultural education and social development project towards children and young people of the community.
One of the main tools of the school is the drum made by our hands, which invites the children of the community to learn music, dance, memory (oral), and values. This school is the starting point of many initiatives towards social development and cultural preservation through the use of the knowledge and values taught by the teachers of our school. We invest in our students and our community, the Batambora project is a solidary project that allows us to support the school and its students in their growth and the fulfillment of their wishes for the future. The Batambora organization also uses drums as a central tool to help the self-sustainability of the school by making our culture and history visible
through different activities : making drums, conducting workshops for international tourists, making performances and concerts...
With the first generation of students from the Tambores de Cabildo school, we invite you to share experiences and knowledge as well as to participate in our struggle for the preservation of our territory and identity.
